Overview

Many people, young and old, find the democratic process very confusing, futile, and intimidating; which is one of the many reasons for low young voter turnout. During the 2022 U.S. midterm elections, Snapchat relaunched the Register to Vote Mini, designed to further simplify the voter registration process for Snapchatters. This tool allowed Snapchatters, particularly younger demographics, to register to vote directly within the app, streamlining a typically cumbersome process. By partnering with organizations like BallotReady and TurboVote, Snapchat made it easier for users to register and become informed about upcoming elections.

Key Highlights

Why is this work important?

This work was crucial in lowering the barriers to voter registration, especially for first-time and young voters. By integrating this tool into an app that millions of young people use daily, Snapchat made it easier for them to register without leaving the platform. It was fulfilling to be part of a project that empowered young voters to take part in their democracy while keeping the process simple, accessible, and user-friendly.
